Where is Pink Lake, Utah?
There are actually two main Pink Lake spots in Utah, both offering incredible backdrops for boudoir photography — but each with its own vibe.
Spiral Jetty Area – This location sits on the northern shore of the Great Salt Lake and is the most remote. There are no bathrooms, and it requires a longer drive on gravel roads, but the reward is unmatched, otherworldly beauty and a truly private atmosphere. The colors here can be especially vivid, and the wide-open desert landscape feels like stepping into another world.
Stansbury Island Area – Located closer to Salt Lake City, this spot is more accessible and has a basic bathroom (no running water). It’s easier to get to and perfect if you prefer a shorter drive, though it can be a bit more crowded, especially on weekends. The water here still boasts gorgeous pink tones, and the surrounding salt flats offer plenty of variety for your images.

What to Expect During Your Session

Footwear – Barefoot works best for movement and comfort in the shallow water. Heels would look great but be difficult to move around in.

There are Restrooms at the Stansbury park location but no restrooms at the Spiral Jetty location.No shade, or trash bins at most Pink Lake locations, so plan to pack everything in and out.

Drone use may require a small permit from Great Salt Lake State Park. Weddings or large gatherings may also need a special use permit — check in advance if you’re planning something big.
9. What’s the road and cell service like?
Most routes are accessible by regular vehicles, but the gravel sections can be rough. Cell service is spotty, especially near the Spiral Jetty, so download your maps ahead of time.
10. Will I see wildlife?
You may notice brine flies or a light sulfur smell — both are normal for this ecosystem. Because of the high salt content, there are no fish, but the scenery is unmatched. Pelicans have been known to pay a visit.
